About the event

This month’s Char Talk, hosted by the Minnesota Biochar Initiative, features Michael Foggia of Process Combustion Corporation, who will lead a timely discussion on the environmental and regulatory considerations tied to biochar production.

With over 25 years of experience in specialty chemicals and nearly two decades in air pollution control, Michael brings deep technical insight into the emissions challenges presented by pyrolysis processes used in biochar and biocoal manufacturing. His presentation, “Air Pollution Control and Biochar Processing: Ensuring Compliance and Sustainability”, will explore:

  • Types of air pollutants generated from biochar production

  • Equipment solutions for emission treatment

  • Achievable results for compliance and sustainability

  • Real-world examples and best practices

Michael’s background spans new product commercialization, technical service, and environmental engineering, with a strong focus on VOC treatment, particulate recovery, and advanced scrubber technologies. His expertise is highly relevant as the biochar industry navigates increasing regulatory scrutiny and sustainability commitments.
